The standard we hold ourselves to

This page describes how 3 Hot 8 is made. It is here so that you can decide how much weight to give anything else on the site.

Publication dates

Published means published. We do not bump dates to look active, and an edit only changes the modified date when it changes what the article actually tells you to do.

Where money enters

A minority of outbound links are commercial. None of them have ever changed a sentence that was written before the link existed.

Requests to soften a verdict are declined, and we keep them on file. More than one has become the subject of its own paragraph later.

How a draft is built

1. The writer collects what they already know and marks the parts they cannot support.
2. Those parts are checked against a primary source, an operator document, or direct experience.
3. What survives step two goes into the draft. What does not is cut.
4. A second person reads the draft for claims that sound firmer than the evidence behind them.

Bylines

Nothing is published anonymously. A name on a page means somebody can be asked about it later, and that is the only accountability a small site has.

Marisol Chandran, Home cook and recipe developer. Marisol spent years cooking for a household on a strict weeknight schedule before she started writing any of it down. She tests every shortcut on a Tuesday, not a Sunday, because that is when it actually needs to work.

Picking subjects

We do not plan an editorial calendar. Articles appear when a question has come up often enough to be worth answering properly.

Corrections

Send the page and the problem to info@3hot8.com. Typos are fixed silently. Facts are fixed quickly. Conclusions that turn out to be wrong are corrected in the open, with a note saying what we previously said.
